Senior Java Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Design, architect, and develop backend software solutions for high-volume payment processing.

• Create and maintain high-quality, optimized code accompanied by robust unit tests and adequate test coverage.

• Develop scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions utilizing Java and Spring technologies.

• Contribute to the advancement of the payment platform and its foundational architecture.

• Lead the design and architecture of intricate distributed systems that manage real-time financial transactions at scale.

• Spearhead the transition to a microservices-based payments architecture.

• Design and implement solutions using the Event-Driven Software Design Pattern.

• Ensure adherence to standards for scalability, security, and reliability.

• Oversee integrations with payment gateways, banks, card networks, and alternative payment methods.

• Engage with payment flows, settlement, reconciliation, and fraud detection mechanisms.

• Design and develop secure, scalable RESTful APIs.

• Implement OAuth2 Security, JWT, and SSO mechanisms.

• Design and develop solutions leveraging AWS cloud services.

• Collaborate with DevOps teams to enhance cloud-based solutions and CI/CD pipelines.

• Work with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL databases while optimizing transaction management and database performance.

• Contribute to high-availability strategies for critical payment systems.

• Participate in production monitoring and support scalability, performance, and reliability.

• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior developers.

• Guide the team on best practices and efficient coding techniques.

• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, security, DevOps, and other cross-functional engineering teams.

• Drive continuous improvement by identifying bottlenecks and optimizing the software development lifecycle.

• Produce technical requirements, design documents, and specifications.

• Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and business stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• The candidate must be based in Colombia.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or a related field.

• 7 years of experience in backend software development.

• Desirable: experience in leading teams and architecting payment systems.

• Proven experience in the FinTech/Payments industry.

• In-depth knowledge of Java 11 or higher.

• Strong experience with Spring Boot.

• Significant experience with Spring Cloud (Netflix OSS).

• Strong experience with JPA ORM.

• Solid understanding of distributed systems.

• Extensive experience with Event-Driven Software Design Patterns.

• Expertise in microservices architecture.

• Experience in architecting and designing complex systems.

• Strong understanding of payment flows.

• Experience with settlement and reconciliation processes.

• Knowledge of fraud detection mechanisms.

• Experience in integrating payment systems and financial institutions.

• Expertise in designing secure RESTful APIs.

• Strong understanding of OAuth2 Security.

• Experience with JWT and SSO mechanisms.

• Extensive experience with AWS cloud services, including IAM, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, and API Gateway.

• Hands-on experience with transaction management.

• Experience with database tuning.

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL stores.

• Experience with high-availability strategies.

• Experience working in high-volume transaction processing environments.

• Advanced proficiency in Git for source control and versioning.

• Strong understanding of software development and coding best practices.

• Experience in developing high-quality, optimized code with appropriate unit test coverage.

• Advanced English (mandatory), with the capability to participate in technical discussions and communicate complex technical concepts effectively.

• Fluent or Native Spanish (mandatory), with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
