Senior ITS/Traffic Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Oversee the management of ITS, TSMO, TMC, traffic operations, and transportation technology projects from initial planning to implementation and project closure.

• Develop comprehensive project scopes, timelines, budgets, resource allocations, and staffing assignments.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, transportation operations experts, technicians, software/integration specialists, and subconsultants.

• Track project performance, budgets, timelines, and deliverables effectively.

• Assist in proposal development, client engagements, project interviews, and business development efforts.

• Manage ITS infrastructure, transportation communication networks, traffic signal systems, traffic management systems, and transportation technology platforms.

• Supervise the deployment and integration of CCTV cameras, Dynamic Message Signs, traffic detection systems, traveler information systems, connected devices, and associated infrastructure.

• Oversee field investigations, system testing, technology deployment, and operational acceptance processes.

• Direct data integration, system interoperability, asset management, performance monitoring, and operational reporting initiatives.

• Support the adoption of emerging technologies, cloud applications, operational analytics, and connected transportation systems.

• Manage and assist TMC operations, TSMO, and regional traffic operations programs.

• Aid in operations assessments, improvements, TMC procedures, performance reporting, and operational planning.

• Develop operational workflows, standard operating procedures, asset management systems, and reporting processes.

• Coordinate with transportation agencies, law enforcement, emergency management agencies, and relevant stakeholders.

• Provide operational support during special events, emergencies, and severe weather conditions.

• Oversee signal system operations, corridor management, signal timing implementation, and performance evaluations.

• Conduct performance reviews of corridors and intersections utilizing transportation data, ATSPM systems, and operational analytics.

• Act as the project manager and primary contact for clients.

• Lead meetings, workshops, presentations, and stakeholder coordination efforts.

• Foster client relationships and identify opportunities for additional services and project expansion.

• Mentor and lead ITS engineers, traffic engineers, transportation operations specialists, technicians, and project personnel.

• Provide technical oversight and quality assurance.

• Support staff development, recruitment, staffing, and resource planning initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Transportation, Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.

• Eight years of progressive experience in ITS, traffic operations, TMC operations, transportation technology, transportation systems integration, traffic signal systems, or equivalent experience and/or education.

• Proven experience in managing transportation technology, ITS, traffic operations, or transportation infrastructure projects.

• Familiarity with state DOTs, local governments, transportation agencies, and operational stakeholders.

• Proficient in transportation technologies, communication systems, operational software platforms, and ITS infrastructure.

• Demonstrated leadership and project management capabilities.

• A valid US Driver’s License is required.

• Must successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

• Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future.

• Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE), PMP, or equivalent professional certification.

• Preferred: Experience in TMC operations, TSMO programs, traffic signal operations, ITS communications networks, transportation technology integration, operational analytics, asset management systems, Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint, transportation reporting systems, data integration, or cloud-based transportation applications.

• Preferred: IMSA, ATSSA, ITS, TIM, or similar transportation certifications.
