Senior IT Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Execute and support ongoing security operations that align with Sequel’s security priorities and roadmap.

• Transform security findings, alerts, and audit requirements into actionable remediation plans.

• Actively monitor the changing threat landscape and regulatory environment.

• Contribute to investment and business-case discussions by effectively communicating risk-reduction value.

• Collaborate with IT and Security & Compliance teams to implement security initiatives.

• Manage the vulnerability lifecycle, which includes scanning, triage, prioritization, and tracking of remediation efforts.

• Oversee recurring patch cycles in partnership with IT operations.

• Monitor, triage, and investigate alerts generated by SIEM and Microsoft Defender tools.

• Lead comprehensive incident response efforts.

• Identify, investigate, and remediate risks associated with users and devices.

• Administer security and data protection solutions for Microsoft 365.

• Assist in executing the security awareness program.

• Maintain documentation and drive the remediation of audit findings.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in security engineering, security operations, or a closely related field.

• A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience managing security operations or incident response programs.

• Practical experience with vulnerability management and incident response.

• Familiarity with SIEM tools and the Microsoft security ecosystem (Defender, Entra, Purview).

• Exposure to security and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, HITRUST, or similar.

• Experience in supporting audits, including evidence collection and remediation processes.

• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

• Strong communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Candidates must reside in the contiguous United States and be available to work East Coast hours.
