This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Design, implement, and oversee the virtual desktop infrastructure.
• Take responsibility for the health and performance of the virtual desktop and application publishing environment.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to ensure a fast, reliable, and secure remote workspace experience.
• Communicate and coordinate with internal clients and external vendors.
• Manage operational processes including crisis management, support escalation, change management, release management, and capacity management.
• Develop a technology strategy and roadmaps, which encompass design, documentation, communication, and implementation of infrastructure technology standards.
• Analyze, plan, justify, schedule, and coordinate specialized administrative, operational, and financial initiatives.
• Oversee total cost of ownership, optimization, and efficiency initiatives.
• Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to achieve outcomes in line with organizational strategy.
• Manage reporting metrics, dashboards, and status reports for quality and performance.
• Plan, monitor, and control operating and capital budgets.
• Administer and maintain the Omnissa Horizon VDI environment, including pools, golden images, and connection brokers.
• Manage application packaging, publishing, and delivery processes.
• Design and maintain VMware infrastructure that supports the VDI environment.
• Monitor VDI performance and capacity, troubleshooting latency, login, and session issues as necessary.
• Manage profile and user data persistence solutions.
• Patch and update golden images and published application packages.
• Collaborate with Security on access policies, MFA, and endpoint compliance.
• Document architecture, runbooks, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Evaluate and suggest improvements to the VDI stack.
• Bachelor’s Degree (Required).
• Degree in Business Administration, Computer/Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 8 years of technical engineering experience.
• Experience in administering and maintaining VDI environments built on Omnissa Horizon (formerly VMware Horizon).
• Experience in managing application publishing and delivery.
• Proficiency with VMware infrastructure, including vSphere/ESXi and vCenter.
• Experience in building and maintaining golden images, master templates, and instant/linked clone pools.
• Proven experience in monitoring VDI performance and capacity and troubleshooting latency, login, and session issues.
• Familiarity with profile and user data persistence solutions such as App Volumes and Dynamic Environment Manager.
• Experience in patching and updating golden images and published application packages.
• Experience working with Security to enforce access policies, MFA, and endpoint compliance for VDI sessions.
• Proven ability to document environment architecture, runbooks, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Ability to assess and recommend enhancements to the VDI stack.
• Capacity to work collaboratively in a highly matrixed environment.
• Proven ability to drive changes in people, processes, and technology.
• Demonstrated effective leadership skills.
• Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge of regulatory and contractual compliance is advantageous.
• Experience leading large, complex projects across multiple functional departments.
• Experience in a complex healthcare organization is a plus.
