
Senior Indirect Fuel Tax Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Prepare, review, and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual fuel tax filings in accordance with various regulatory agencies.
• Analyze state and local fuel tax regulations, provide guidance on the taxability of new products/services, and assist in developing effective tax strategies.
• Support fuel audit requests by gathering necessary documentation and coordinating efforts.
• Research and address issues with store accounting, fuel accounting, and help desk to ensure precise collection and accounting for fuel tax accruals and associated ledger activities.
• Manage general ledger entries and reconciliations for assigned fuel tax liabilities following generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
• Maintain regular communication with the management team, field operations, regulatory agencies, vendors, suppliers, and other relevant external organizations regarding assigned responsibilities.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls over fuel tax accounting procedures as established by upper management.
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• At least 1 year of experience in US fuel tax.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
• Advanced skills in Excel (e.g., v-lookups, sumifs, pivot tables).
• Capability to manage multiple tasks and complete projects within designated deadlines.
• Strong computer, presentation, and organizational abilities.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
