This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Concentrate on utility planning and advisory initiatives, including transmission system analysis and planning.
• Execute studies in load flow, stability, short circuit, and electromagnetic transients (EMT).
• Develop new generator interconnection applications, which includes creating conceptual single line diagrams.
• Ensure compliance with reactive power standards while developing steady-state, dynamic, and short circuit models to support the applications.
• Evaluate ISO feasibility and system impact studies to offer insights to clients.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, with sufficient industry experience considered in place of an advanced degree.
• At least 6 years of relevant power systems engineering experience within a utility or consulting environment.
• Proficiency in load flow and contingency analysis to determine transmission thermal and voltage limitations and identify transfer capability thresholds.
• Experience utilizing transmission planning software for load flow modeling, contingency analysis, and stability assessments, particularly with PSS/E, PSLF, and TARA.
• Additional skills and experience that are valued but not mandatory:
• Expertise in stability analysis to ascertain critical clearing times, pinpoint voltage limitations, and evaluate power system damping.
• Proficiency in electromagnetic transient analysis using PSCAD.
• Experience in short circuit analysis with software applications such as CAPE or ASPEN.
• Familiarity with power regions and ISOs/RTOs, including PJM, MISO, NYISO, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, and ISO-NE.
• Experience in Python, Java Script, or other scripting languages.
