This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Review medical records and accurately assign codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Accurately assign and sequence codes based on the documentation within medical records.
• Determine the appropriate discharge disposition.
• Abstract and input coded data to meet hospital statistical and reporting requirements.
• Identify and communicate opportunities for documentation improvement and coding issues to relevant personnel for resolution.
• Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% and a 95% accuracy rate for APC assignment while meeting site-specific productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to uphold professional credentials.
• Participate in education meetings and in-services sponsored by Datavant Health.
• Exhibit initiative and sound judgment in executing job responsibilities.
• Engage with co-workers, management, and hospital staff regarding clinical and reimbursement matters.
• Operate in a professional, efficient, and positive manner.
• Adhere to the code of ethics established by the American Health Information Management Association.
• Maintain a customer-service orientation, showcasing professionalism, flexibility, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
• Manage a high level of complexity in work functions and decision-making.
• Demonstrate strong organizational and teamwork capabilities.
• Follow all HIM Division Policies.
• Possession of AHIMA certified credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC certified credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC or CRC).
• A minimum of 2 years of coding experience in a hospital setting and/or coding consulting role.
• Proficiency in most or all of the following coding specialties: Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions.
• Proficiency in most or all of the following coding specialties: Ancillary, Emergency Department, Injections/Infusions, E/M leveling.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, adeptness in remote work, and excellent time management abilities.
• Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software.
