This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.
• Spearhead the development and enhancement of core engine, rendering, and graphics systems within Unreal Engine 5 across various platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate features that enhance gameplay, support content creation, and improve overall product quality.
• Work closely with technical artists and content teams to pinpoint bottlenecks and implement scalable technical solutions.
• Take charge of the graphics performance and optimization strategy, while helping to establish best practices.
• Engage in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
• Act as a technical consultant on intricate graphics features, identifying risks and trade-offs.
• Collaborate with production and leadership teams to estimate, plan, and deliver engineering tasks.
• Contribute to technical decision-making processes and long-term project objectives.
• Effectively communicate technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Over 5 years of professional experience in game development.
• Proficient in C++ and possess strong mathematical skills.
• Experience in shipping at least one AAA console title.
• Recent professional experience with Unreal Engine.
• Comprehensive understanding of real-time rendering techniques, rendering pipelines, shaders, GPU/CPU architecture, and GPU performance.
• Familiarity with low-level graphics APIs such as DirectX12 and Vulkan.
• Experience with graphics debugging and profiling tools like RenderDoc or PIX.
• Strong skills in debugging, optimization, and problem-solving.
• Capability to design and implement robust, high-performance, scalable, maintainable, and extensible rendering and graphics systems across platforms.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, performance considerations, and best practices in code quality.
• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating in a remote-first team setting.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Bonus: Hands-on experience with UE5 technologies such as Nanite, Lumen, Virtual Shadow Maps, or TSR.
• Bonus: Experience in extending or modifying Unreal Engine's rendering pipeline or engine-level graphics systems.
• Bonus: Experience working on multi-platform titles.
• Bonus: Familiarity with all stages of game development from Concept to Post-Launch Operations.
