This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +12 more states.
• Leading a small team of engineers across various concurrent projects, ensuring precise scoping, disciplined execution, and accountability for delivery.
• Facilitating team execution rituals such as sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives, making sure that work is well-defined with clear acceptance criteria and measurable results.
• Managing delivery tracking and transparency through Jira and documentation in Confluence, keeping stakeholders informed about status, risks, trade-offs, and priorities.
• Designing and developing robust GraphQL and REST APIs, as well as scalable backend services that cater to both internal and external needs.
• Assuming complete technical ownership of features spanning both product and data domains.
• Contributing hands-on production-level code across frontend (React, TypeScript) and backend (Node.js, SQL, GraphQL, REST) systems.
• Creating and maintaining data ingestion workflows and integration logic, including ETL-style processing and connections to downstream systems.
• Crafting technical solutions that enhance application growth, reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Leading complex cross-domain engineering projects that encompass application features, API systems, CRM functionalities, and data workflows.
• Advocating for engineering excellence through code quality, performance optimization, adherence to testing best practices, and thorough architecture documentation.
• Collaborating closely with Product and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable engineering solutions.
• Utilizing AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code) to enhance engineering velocity, code quality, and delivery efficiency, while monitoring measurable impacts via KPIs such as cycle time, defect rates, and throughput.
• Guiding engineers through code reviews, design discussions, career development conversations, and structured feedback.
• 8+ years of experience as a software engineer developing production-grade applications.
• Strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, and contemporary front-end development practices.
• Proven track record in designing, building, and scaling APIs (GraphQL and REST) in production settings.
• Robust backend development experience utilizing Node.js, TypeScript, and SQL (PostgreSQL preferred).
• Experience with modern monorepo setups (Nx, Turborepo, Yarn Workspaces, etc.).
• Strong data modeling and database design expertise, ideally with PostgreSQL.
• Experience in building, integrating, and maintaining data ingestion pipelines and application-level data processing logic (using Node.js, Python, or SQL), while focusing on performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Proficient in developing, supporting, and integrating with production-grade ETL/data pipelines.
• Solid understanding of automated testing practices and CI/CD workflows.
• Familiar with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and containerization.
• Comfortable working with both greenfield and legacy systems.
• Technically flexible and adept at leading projects that involve both application and data-focused initiatives.
• Confident in handling ambiguity and taking ownership of delivery from problem definition to execution.
• Strong communication skills, capable of bridging the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven experience in mentoring engineers, nurturing talent, and contributing to the engineering culture and growth.
• Background in fast-paced startup or scaling environments.
• Proactive in recognizing architectural and systemic enhancements.
• Experience in balancing team delivery accountability with individual technical contributions.
• Experience in leading teams within an Agile environment and utilizing tools like Jira for managing delivery, tracking progress, and effectively communicating status.
• Previous experience in healthcare, life sciences, or regulated data environments is advantageous.
