Senior Frontend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

• Create, develop, and sustain exceptional, reusable, dependable, and testable TypeScript code.

• You will design and maintain top-tier software utilized by various businesses.

• Assess the work produced by your peers.

• As an excellent team member, continuously enhance team processes, generate ideas, and communicate updates and progress.

• Guide others, provide constructive feedback, and focus on your continuous improvement.

• Offer recommendations to our stakeholders regarding enhancements in usability.

• Proactively recognize technical debt and product domains that need attention or enhancements, and propose upgrades to our technology stack.

• During your first week, you can expect to:

• Start your onboarding and integration process at Toptal.

• Familiarize yourself with our product and team structure.

• Review our comprehensive Toptal Engineering Documentation to understand our working methodologies.

• Meet your mentor and collaborate on the optimal ramp-up strategy.

• In your first month, anticipate:

• Gaining insight into our front-end architecture and the tools we utilize. Learn about the processes we implement.

• Participating in regular meetings, including technical calls, retrospectives, and the monthly Engineering All-hands meeting.

• Completing your initial tasks and having them deployed to production.

• Deepening your understanding of our technology, processes, and product pipeline.

• In your first three months, look forward to:

• Actively engaging in software planning, development, and maintenance.

• Being prepared to suggest and execute enhancements to Toptal’s processes and codebase.

• Becoming comfortable in your daily responsibilities within your team and delivering consistent value.

• Reviewing code authored by your colleagues.

• Proposing and executing improvements to Toptal’s processes and codebase while exercising discretion and independent judgment.

• In your first six months, expect to:

• Contribute to the planning and execution of multi-sprint initiatives within your team.

• Become an integral part of the team, taking responsibility for specific areas and assisting others both within and outside your team.

• Lead technical initiatives on our team.

• By the end of your first year, anticipate:

• Acquiring a thorough understanding of Toptal’s technical stack, collaboration rituals, processes, performance, and future projects.

• Defining what your career trajectory will look like at Toptal.

• Mentoring new team members at Toptal.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in front-end web development.

• Strong preference for experience with Next.js, monorepo, and Progressive Web Apps.

• Proficiency in our front-end stack, including React, Apollo GraphQL, TypeScript, and Jest is anticipated.

• Experience with Ruby on Rails is highly advantageous.

• Familiarity with additional non-frontend programming languages and technical stacks is appreciated.

• Solid understanding of functional programming, clean code principles, and best testing practices.
