Senior FP&A Manager

Posted Jun 17

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Rhode Island, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design and execute innovative analytical frameworks for the service line — including capacity planning, leverage modeling, revenue and pipeline analytics, and other forward-looking tools — in a role that is evolving from a focus on reporting to one driven by analytics.

• Act as the main financial business partner to the leadership of the assigned service line; convert financial data into actionable insights and recommendations that inform decision-making.

• Work jointly with service line leaders to align financial objectives, correlate performance with operational drivers, and assist in long-term strategic planning, including capacity considerations.

• Conduct profitability assessments — analyze service line margins, pricing, and cost structures; present findings along with conclusions and suggested actions to leadership.

• Manage the comprehensive budget, forecasting, and long-range planning cycle for the assigned service line; keep a rolling forecast model and proactively pinpoint risks and opportunities.

• Examine historical financial data and track service line KPIs; provide variance explanations with a clear business narrative — highlighting not only numbers but also the underlying story.

• Oversee the month-end and quarterly close reporting cycle; spearhead the standardization of reports and dashboards using Power BI and Adaptive to deliver insightful, decision-ready data.

• Coordinate with accounting to manage the WIP and AR reserve process; ensure accuracy in revenue recognition inputs and alignment with the close calendar.

• Monitor, analyze, and track costs across the assigned service line; identify variances and present findings in context to leadership.

• Create and sustain financial models to project current and future performance; assist with ad hoc analyses and special projects as needed.

• Build and uphold Power BI dashboards and Workday Adaptive Planning models; foster the adoption of a standardized, scalable reporting infrastructure.

• Lead initiatives for quality and process improvements; identify and implement efficiencies that minimize manual efforts or enhance forecast accuracy.

• Mentor and develop FP&A analysts; establish best practices and elevate team capabilities in planning, analysis, and communication.

• Formulate and enforce FP&A policies and procedures; promote consistency and quality standards across the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant experience in professional services (accounting firm, consulting, or advisory).

• FP&A experience should demonstrate ownership of planning cycles, not just reporting or model maintenance.

• Required exposure to accounting or a close collaboration with the accounting function.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics is preferred.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel.

• Knowledge of Power BI is essential.

• Familiarity with Workday — must have working knowledge across financial reporting, HCM, and time tracking modules; ability to extract and interpret data across these functions to support financial analysis and workforce planning.

• Hands-on experience with Workday Adaptive Planning is required (distinct from core Workday modules); must be capable of building and maintaining driver-based planning models, not just generating reports.

• Experience in the professional services industry is required — accounting firm, consulting, or advisory environment is strongly preferred; must understand billable vs. non-billable economics, utilization, and realization.

• Familiarity with accounting and close processes — working knowledge of GAAP, accruals, WIP, AR reserves, and month-end close; direct accounting experience or close collaboration with accounting function is necessary.
