This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sri Lanka.
• Take ownership of the AI Coach, encompassing prompting, conversation state and progression, Pinecone retrieval, model selection and evaluation, as well as the safety/crisis layer tested against scripted clinical scenarios.
• Manage the backend utilizing Python 3.12, FastAPI, GraphQL (Strawberry), SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
• Oversee mobile and web delivery using React Native for iOS and Android, alongside React, including handling App Store, Google Play, and Stripe subscriptions.
• Handle release engineering: CI/CD, environments, signing credentials, monitoring, backups, and rollback processes for rapid, secure, and frequent releases.
• Apply product sensibility to enhance mobile and web user experience (UX).
• Convert technical decisions into understandable language for the founder and clinical team.
• Plan tasks, seek approval on direction, execute independently, and report on outcomes.
• Develop automated evaluation harnesses for AI Coach scenario suites.
• Establish safety thresholds and crisis management systems with legal and clinical approval.
• Report directly to the non-technical founder and oversee the engineering function from start to finish.
• Established experience in delivering LLM-based products to production: prompt architecture, conversation state machines, RAG/retrieval, evaluations, moderation, and safety handling—not merely API calls.
• Strong backend engineering skills: proficient in Python, FastAPI (or similar), SQL/PostgreSQL, AWS; capable of independently managing infrastructure, CI/CD, and production operations.
• Solid expertise in React Native and React: able to deploy and debug on both iOS and Android, including in-app purchase flows on both platforms and Stripe on the web.
• Demonstrated commitment to AI-first development practices: daily utilization of agentic coding tools, with the discernment to review and take ownership of their output.
• Product sensibility: a keen eye for mobile and web UX; you identify broken layouts, poor copy, and awkward flows, and address them effectively.
• Independent operator: proven history of managing a product or significant system from inception to completion with minimal technical oversight; excellent written communication skills for a non-technical founder.
• Attention to sensitive data: experience (or a serious commitment) to privacy, security, and access controls regarding personal and health data.
• Familiarity with mental health, health tech, or other regulated/safety-critical consumer products.
• Experience in taking over a codebase from an agency or departing team.
• Knowledge of mobile release processes: App Store/Play Store review cycles, promo codes, and staged rollouts.
• Proficiency in analytics and growth tools: AppsFlyer, GA4, event taxonomy design, and experiment frameworks.
• Experience with voice features (TTS/STT), push notification strategies, and CRM/email platform integrations.
• Flexibility in work hours and location, focusing on managing energy rather than time.
• Access to online learning platforms and a budget dedicated to professional development.
• A collaborative environment without silos, promoting learning and growth across teams.
• A vibrant social culture featuring team lunches, social events, and opportunities for creative contributions.
• Health insurance coverage.
• Leave benefits.
