Senior Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with company engineering teams for dedicated engagements lasting 8 to 24 weeks.

• Take full ownership of project delivery from start to finish.

• Work directly within their repositories, ensuring compliance with CI/CD protocols, security reviews, and coding standards.

• Establish systems that their teams can manage, enhance, and rely upon.

• Develop advanced CodeGen and agentic workflows, which include custom subagents, skills, MCP servers, evaluation harnesses, background agents, and automated PR reviews.

• Implement evaluations, guardrails, observability, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints that are appropriately scaled to the associated risks.

• Engage in pair programming and prompting alongside their engineers as a method of instruction.

• Collaborate with engineering leadership to identify high-impact opportunities defined by measurable business metrics and acceptance criteria.

• Contribute patterns, accelerators, and reference implementations back to Vista's shared FDE and AI Ops playbooks for reuse throughout the portfolio.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7 to 10 years of experience in production software engineering.

• Over 3 years of consistent, daily application of cutting-edge AI tools (such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Devin, or similar) in production environments.

• Proven track record of leading AI or automation transformation initiatives at the enterprise level.

• Ability to quickly adapt to various programming languages and technology stacks (including Python, Java, Go, TypeScript, C#, and others).

• In-depth knowledge of cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP, along with expertise in containerization, CI/CD, and observability.

• Previous experience in FDE, embedded solutions engineering, technical consulting, staff product engineering, or engineering within early-stage startups.

• Willingness to travel between 35% to 50% of the time.
