Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with one or two teams each cycle, taking full ownership of each AI solution from the initial brief to a deployed, monitored production feature.

• Determine whether to construct, encapsulate, or evaluate each initiative while establishing the validation criteria.

• Develop the agentic layer, which includes tool and function calling, RAG, MCP integrations, multi-step orchestration, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints.

• Design architecture on the Prenuvo AI platform, covering shared model serving, AWS Bedrock foundation-model contracts, evaluation harnesses, monitoring, tool registry, and prompt guardrails.

• Establish acceptance criteria, offline and online evaluations, and escalation triggers prior to development.

• Navigate initiatives through the AI intake and risk categorization processes.

• Create solutions that adhere to governance standards while obtaining formal approval from Regulatory, Privacy, and Legal teams.

• Produce reusable assets such as validated templates, registered tools, or reference architectures.

• Enhance AI fluency by conducting design reviews and hosting office hours.

• Empower additional teams to independently ship AI features by utilizing templates and champions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of six years of experience in building and delivering product-grade software.

• Proven history of deploying AI-powered features to production, including LLM and/or imaging utilizing tool calling, RAG, or agent orchestration.

• Proficient full-stack developer.

• Understanding of probabilistic software, which includes model evaluation and reasoning about potential failure modes.

• The ability to make judgments and maintain a validation standard with senior clinical, product, and engineering stakeholders.

• Strong instincts for product delivery, including the ability to scope ambiguous requests and translate product needs into validated designs.

• Excellent Python programming skills.

• Practical experience in cloud engineering and deployment, including APIs; familiarity with AWS and Bedrock is preferred.

• Ability to work directly within another team's codebase.

• Hands-on experience with contemporary evaluation frameworks and human-in-the-loop design.

• Experience in constructing evaluation harnesses and defining acceptance criteria.

• Legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of hire and must not require employer sponsorship for a work visa, either currently or in the future.

• Successful candidates will be subject to a background check.

• Nice to have: experience in regulated, clinical, or healthcare-data environments, including FDA, Health Canada, ISO 13485, or equivalent, and comfort working with PHI.

• Nice to have: specific experience with AWS and Bedrock.

• Nice to have: MCP or experience in building tool/function interfaces.

• Nice to have: experience in consulting, solutions architecture, or forward-deployed roles.
