This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nigeria.
• Take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close for various entities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
• Prepare and review financial statements at both the entity and consolidated levels, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Guarantee consistency and accuracy in intercompany accounts, eliminations, and reconciliations.
• Uphold strong closing discipline as transaction volumes and business lines expand.
• Manage the accounting for B2B products, contracts, and settlements, covering everything from revenue recognition to reconciliation.
• Ensure precise tracking of client balances, fees, commissions, and transactions related to partners.
• Collaborate closely with the Commercial, Operations, and Treasury teams to ensure that financial data accurately reflects on-ground realities.
• Convert complex B2B workflows into clear, auditable accounting entries.
• Maintain stringent internal controls throughout accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, treasury, and interbusiness transactions.
• Ensure the correct accounting treatment for transactions involving cryptocurrencies, including valuation, custody, fees, and taxes.
• Continuously enhance accounting processes to minimize manual effort as transaction volumes rise.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting by providing reliable financial data at the entity level.
• Monitor variances and provide transparent, business-relevant explanations.
• Support the CFO with ad-hoc analyses related to growth, pricing, and B2B performance.
• Assist with audits, tax filings, and statutory reporting across various jurisdictions.
• Stay updated on accounting, fintech, and cryptocurrency regulatory requirements.
• Identify financial risks early, particularly those that scale with increasing volume and complexity.
• 8 to 12 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably within fintech, cryptocurrency, or technology sectors.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent).
• Extensive experience with financial reporting, audits, and closing cycles.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS (or US GAAP).
• Comfortable operating within treasury, tax, and multi-entity frameworks.
• Exceptional attention to detail, with a knack for noticing what others might overlook.
• Capable of remaining calm and dependable, managing your responsibilities without the need for micromanagement.
• Nice to Have:
• Experience in accounting for cryptocurrency assets or exchanges.
• Familiarity with tools such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar platforms.
