Senior Finance Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Providing high-quality financial accounting, statutory reporting, and tax compliance throughout the organization.

• Taking the lead on tax-related issues, ensuring adherence to all pertinent UK legislation (including Corporation Tax, VAT, and employment taxes).

• Assisting with the broader financial control and reporting framework.

• Upholding strong governance, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance within a public sector setting.

• Preparing statutory accounts (both single entity and consolidated) in line with IFRS standards.

• Guaranteeing precise and timely month-end and year-end closing processes, which include journals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

• Overseeing all tax compliance activities, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and managing correspondence with tax authorities.

• Offering technical tax guidance across the organization, including the VAT treatment of transactions and projects.

• Enhancing financial processes to minimize risk and improve audit outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in financial accounting and statutory reporting.

• Proven background in UK tax compliance (VAT is essential; Corporation Tax is desirable).

• Experience in a regulated or public sector environment is beneficial.

• Established record of collaborating with auditors and managing audit processes.

• Experience in preparing monthly and detailed financial accounts and reports.

• A collaborative and proactive approach to engaging with stakeholders.

• Strong sense of accountability and ownership.

• Dedication to maintaining high standards of governance and ethical practices.

• A mindset geared toward continuous improvement.

• Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, CIPFA) or equivalent credentials.

• Additional tax qualifications (e.g., CTA) or substantial tax experience are highly desirable.
