This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Conduct testing, inspection, maintenance, commissioning, and troubleshooting of low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical systems, including equipment rated up to 600 kV.
• Test and maintain transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, protective relays, cables, meters, automatic transfer switches, and associated power system equipment.
• Carry out electrical testing such as TTR, Doble, insulation resistance, power factor, VLF, Tan Delta, DC hipot, relay testing, and meter calibration.
• Assist with start-ups, shutdowns, emergency response operations, and commissioning of essential electrical systems.
• Precisely gather, analyze, document, and report test results utilizing digital reporting tools.
• Offer technical support, guidance, and mentorship to junior technicians and members of the field team.
• Adhere to Shermco, customer, site-specific, provincial, federal, and cross-border safety regulations.
• Travel to customer locations throughout Manitoba, Canada, and the United States as necessary.
• A minimum of 5+ years of practical experience in electrical testing, field service, commissioning, or maintenance of power systems.
• Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, education in Electrical Power & Controls, Journeyperson Electrician certification, or equivalent work experience.
• Familiarity with switchgear, transformers, substations, breakers, protective relays, cables, and power distribution systems.
• NETA Certification Level II–IV is regarded as a significant advantage.
• Strong skills in troubleshooting, analysis, documentation, and problem-solving.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and reporting software; experience with PowerDB is a plus.
• A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Willingness to travel approximately 50% and comply with relevant cross-border travel requirements for U.S. assignments.
