This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• Oversee field property claims autonomously, including those that necessitate external field investigations and catastrophe (CAT) responses.
• Conduct comprehensive investigations, evaluate coverage, and generate relevant documentation such as reservation of rights and coverage letters.
• Recognize and actively seek opportunities to transfer risk to suitable entities for the advantage of insured clients and business partners.
• Keep meticulous and thorough claim records, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to jurisdictional standards.
• Appropriately identify and assign subrogation potential; establish files to facilitate successful recovery initiatives.
• Ensure that all claims operations conform to regulatory and company guidelines.
• Investigate and manage suspicious claims employing advanced methodologies and tools.
• Establish reserves, authorize payments, and make financial decisions within the designated authority.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including legal teams, underwriting, vendors, and agents.
• Utilize advanced tools and analytics to identify trends.
• Compile detailed reports that summarize findings and provide recommendations.
• Act as a mentor to junior adjusters, offering guidance on complex claims.
• Provide empathetic and clear communication throughout the claims process.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in claims handling.
• Generally requires 5–10 years of experience in adjusting.
• Strong understanding of local geography, regulations, and public safety agencies.
• Ability to establish rapport with insureds and navigate both insurance and legal environments.
• In-depth knowledge of applicable statutes, regulations, case law, and third-party legal liability concepts.
• Proficient in negotiation and developing strategies to influence outcomes.
• Exhibits sound judgment and decision-making skills, particularly in litigation and compliance matters.
• Communicates effectively in both verbal and written formats across diverse situations.
• Chooses suitable communication channels and consistently demonstrates empathy toward all stakeholders.
• Highly organized with the capability to manage multifaceted workflows and project tasks.
• Makes informed decisions through detailed analysis of complex issues.
• Assesses risks and outcomes, operates independently within authority, and identifies patterns in claims to aid resolution strategies.
• Demonstrates the ability to collaborate with internal and external experts, including legal and underwriting teams.
• Capable of quickly evaluating customer concerns and anticipating questions.
• Proficient in claims systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Competent in using a personal computer and other standard office equipment.
• Able to sit and/or stand for extended durations.
• Willing to travel as needed.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, or stressful environment.
• Able to perform tasks in a noisy/loud work setting.
• Capable of operating a motor vehicle for 4-5 hours each day and getting in and out of the vehicle multiple times throughout the day.
• Able to load and unload equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds from a motor vehicle as required.
• Capable of bending, walking, and climbing for several consecutive hours while inspecting damaged structures.
• Able to safely use a ladder to access and descend from roofs.
• Must possess and maintain relevant state adjuster licenses.
