This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Supervise field teams consisting of 4–8 personnel as they deploy to communities nationwide under an EPA technical assistance program.
• Provide daily leadership, coordination, and motivation to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality data collection.
• Act as the main point of contact between the project manager and field team.
• Report on field progress, challenges, and updates to the project manager and escalate issues as necessary.
• Troubleshoot on-site issues related to route changes, weather, equipment, and coordination with utilities.
• Maintain professional relationships with water utility staff and adapt to local practices accordingly.
• Walk significant distances for multiple consecutive days while gathering water utility data.
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions including heat, cold, humidity, and light rain.
• Perform occasional light digging to access utility infrastructure.
• Monitor, manage, and protect equipment and supplies.
• Ensure accurate, reliable, and comprehensive field documentation.
• Translate project goals and logistics into actionable daily plans for the field team.
• Oversee the distribution, tracking, and end-of-day reconciliation of equipment and supplies.
• Modify field strategies and travel plans as conditions evolve.
• Maintain prompt communication to ensure that issues are documented, shared, and addressed.
• At least 15 years of experience in team leadership.
• Prior experience leading teams in outdoor or technical settings is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with water utility personnel, public works staff, or other field stakeholders is advantageous.
• An active driver’s license is required.
• Willingness and capability to engage in frequent long-distance travel.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• No security clearance is necessary.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• High physical endurance and comfort with prolonged outdoor activities.
• Excellent communication skills with field teams and water utility staff.
• Organized and detail-oriented approach to planning, coordination, and documentation.
• Flexibility and robust problem-solving skills in dynamic field environments.
• Professional demeanor when interacting with local utility partners.
• Reliability, accountability, and good judgment under changing conditions.
• Capability to walk long distances for several consecutive days.
