Senior Field Application Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Facilitate customer application development initiatives to maximize the capabilities of Ultima Genomics’ technology platform.

• Provide expert training to customers on various processes, kits, and instrumentation.

• Lead troubleshooting efforts and work alongside internal experts to address customer challenges.

• Document, resolve, and escalate customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

• Collaborate with sales teams to offer technical and market insights throughout the customer journey.

• Design and implement pilot experiments to support the adoption of technology.

• Work together with sales and marketing teams on product demonstrations and the creation of technical content.

• Represent the organization at customer locations and scientific conferences.

• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, along with extensive laboratory experience in various life science platforms, especially in next-generation sequencing (NGS).

• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, Master’s degree with 5+ years, or Ph.D. with 3+ years of applicable experience.

• Practical experience and thorough understanding of NGS library preparation workflows, which includes sample handling, quality control, and optimization across various input types.

• Experience in teaching, training, or mentoring peers or customers.

• Proven ability to balance long-term strategic objectives with immediate deliverables.

• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to accurately follow complex operational procedures.

• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, committed to delivering high-quality results.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

• Capability to operate with urgency, ownership, and accountability in a dynamic startup setting.

• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time and be located within one to two hours of a major airport.

• Travel will involve field support with sales, customer interactions, and participation in trade shows and conferences.
