This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Monitor project budgets and expenditures
• Report to the Principal regarding project schedules and financials
• Develop scopes, cost estimates, and timelines
• Organize and participate in meetings with clients
• Draft meeting minutes, agendas, and progress reports
• Create presentations for clients, public audiences, and boards or commissions
• Represent GPA at professional conferences
• Supervise junior staff and sub-consultants on projects where you serve as Project Manager
• Prepare, coordinate, review, and process detailed Environmental Documentation
• Educate the project team on gathering and researching relevant project information and oversee its application in technical analysis and environmental documents
• Independently write and compile thorough environmental documents and manage the development of figures for inclusion in these documents
• Prepare applications for coastal permits
• Oversee and coordinate the execution of technical analyses
• Conduct peer reviews of team deliverables and provide constructive feedback to project team members
• Attend public meetings, project kick-off meetings, project development meetings, and interviews independently
• Conduct necessary research and identify areas requiring further investigation
• Perform and supervise fieldwork to gather data and verify existing design conditions, including taking field notes and photographs
• Collaborate with public agencies, engineers, and other members of the design team as necessary
• Coordinate resources with in-house staff and sub-consultants to ensure timely project completion
• Occasional overnight travel may be required
• Expertise in CEQA and NEPA compliance, along with other relevant federal and state legislation, policies, and procedures related to the natural environment
• Deep understanding of Caltrans and other public agency processes and documentation, as well as state and federal regulatory frameworks
• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental planning or a closely related field
• Minimum of 8 years of full-time professional experience in environmental planning
• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office)
• Strong writing and analytical capabilities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking, strong leadership, project management skills, and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to shifting priorities, and collaborate effectively or work independently as required
• A valid California driver’s license and automobile insurance
• Capable of multitasking and working amidst frequent interruptions
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods; occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; lift, carry, push, or pull light to moderate weights; operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movements and coordination, including the use of a computer keyboard; conduct site visits outdoors, sometimes on uneven terrain
• Ability to accurately analyze environmental situations
• Gather and analyze data; prepare written reports
• Work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
• Conduct interviews for data collection
• Apply general techniques to ensure participation in the planning process
• Coordinate environmental planning, research, and analysis for proposed projects
• Assess existing environments
• Write environmental documents
• Prepare and monitor project scopes and manage schedules and deadlines
• Plan and execute complex environmental studies
• Direct the activities of others involved in planning studies
• Participate in public presentations
• Engage external expertise on a short-term basis for specific environmental studies or phases of studies
• Coordinate environmental investigations for proposed projects
• Review and evaluate local plans in relation to statewide environmental interests
• Integrate feedback from interested groups and agencies into the environmental planning and analysis process
• Seek necessary expertise to complete environmental studies or achieve project objectives
