Senior Environmental, Construction Defect Claims Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee a portfolio of both litigated and non-litigated claims related to environmental issues, toxic torts, and construction defects that are complex and carry significant exposure across various jurisdictions.

• Cultivate and sustain relationships with agents and policyholders by providing inclusive, communicative, and accessible service, along with comprehensive file documentation.

• Conduct investigations and assess coverage, liability, and damages throughout the claims process by analyzing relevant facts, circumstances, developments, applicable laws, and legal principles.

• Create, modify, and implement action plans aimed at achieving favorable claim resolutions.

• Recognize and pursue early resolutions when suitable.

• Identify and assess opportunities for risk transfer.

• Set and adjust loss reserves based on significant information and developments.

• Report on and present major losses during file conferences and claims reviews.

• Provide technical guidance and direction while serving as a subject matter expert for claims of high severity and complexity.

• Engage in mediations and settlement conferences, and attend trials.

• Negotiate settlements effectively.

• Stay updated on multijurisdictional legal and regulatory developments and trends related to claims.

• Collaborate with both internal and external resources as necessary while overseeing and controlling costs.

• Assess claims in accordance with Amerisure's claims guidelines and quality standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree is required; a Juris Doctorate is preferred.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial claims.

• At least 7 years of experience with moderately to highly complex environmental and toxic tort claims.

• A minimum of 5 years managing litigated files and overseeing external defense and coverage counsel.

• Experience in handling construction defect claims is preferred but not mandatory.

• Industry accreditation is preferred.

• In-depth knowledge of current contract and coverage laws across multiple jurisdictions.

• Experience in Texas, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Arizona.

• Proven capability to manage claims in new or less familiar jurisdictions.

• Ability to facilitate discussions, deliver presentations, and convey technical results to a non-technical audience.

• Exceptional organizational skills and adaptability to a dynamic environment.

• Willingness to undertake new assignments as necessary.

• Strategic thinking complemented by analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to navigate ambiguity.

• Proven track record of fostering positive relationships and partnerships within the department, across the organization, and with external clients.

• Ability to secure the necessary state licensing as required.

• Willingness to travel overnight up to 20% of the time.
