This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Play a vital role in maintaining financial strength, optimizing capital allocation, and assessing strategic growth prospects.
• Collaborate closely with actuarial, finance, investments, and executive leadership to facilitate data-driven decisions that balance risk, return, and regulatory obligations.
• Directly impact the company’s financial resilience and growth strategy by ensuring appropriate risk-taking, efficient capital deployment, and thorough evaluation of strategic opportunities.
• Contribute significantly to sustaining robust regulatory compliance and nurturing relationships with rating agencies.
• Assess strategic initiatives such as Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), reinsurance deals, distribution partnerships, and new product/market introductions.
• Develop and review financial models for acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic investments.
• Conduct valuation analyses, including discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable company assessments, and embedded value when applicable.
• Perform industry and competitor analyses within the life, annuity, and/or Property & Casualty (P&C) sectors.
• Assist in due diligence and integration planning for transactions.
• Create and maintain capital models that adhere to regulatory and economic frameworks (e.g., risk-based capital [RBC], economic capital, and rating agency models like AM Best/Standard & Poor’s [S&P]).
• Analyze capital adequacy and aid in capital allocation decisions across various business lines.
• Execute sensitivity and scenario testing to evaluate effects on surplus, earnings, and ratings.
• Partner with actuarial and finance teams on projections, reserve impacts, and asset-liability management (ALM).
• Assist with ORSA filings, rating agency submissions, and capital-related disclosures.
• Aid in the design, enhancement, and execution of the company’s ERM framework in compliance with National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and Own Risk and Solvency Assessments (ORSA) requirements.
• Identify, evaluate, and monitor significant risks, including underwriting, market, credit, liquidity, and operational risks.
• Lead risk assessments, scenario analyses, and stress testing (e.g., interest rate shocks, catastrophe events, lapse risk).
• Prepare risk reports and dashboards for senior management and the Board.
• Work with business units to formulate and monitor risk mitigation strategies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• 5–10+ years of experience in insurance risk management, actuarial science, corporate finance, investment banking, or strategy.
• Strong grasp of insurance fundamentals, including reserving, pricing, reinsurance, and ALM.
• Familiarity with capital frameworks such as RBC and/or economic capital models.
• Progress towards or achievement of FSA/ASA, CFA, or MBA is highly preferred.
• Proficient in advanced Excel; experience with modeling tools (e.g., Python, R, VBA, Prophet, AXIS, or similar) is advantageous.
