This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Take full ownership of delivery from start to finish within Partner Experience and Integrations Core, ensuring both sub-teams maintain a consistent standard of quality and speed without becoming a bottleneck.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the engineers on your team, focusing on career advancement, providing feedback, assessing performance, and cultivating an environment where talented individuals excel.
• Maintain technical credibility by reviewing design choices related to the Nexus framework and the broader integration platform, assessing trade-offs concerning scalability and maintainability, and identifying designs that may not be viable.
• Treat external developers as primary users, as much of your team's output is public-facing; advocate for stable contracts, comprehensive documentation, and modifications that do not disrupt the partners relying on your work.
• Collaborate with Product to create a feasible roadmap encompassing a wide scope, identify risks early on, and safeguard the team against over-commitment.
• Promote operational excellence through effective monitoring, incident response, and thorough post-mortems that adequately resolve follow-ups on systems essential to partners.
• Conduct hiring as Primer expands through its Series C plan, focusing on building and calibrating a robust team across both sub-teams, making it a primary responsibility rather than a secondary task.
• Proven experience in managing a team of software engineers, with genuine accountability for their delivery, growth, and performance, rather than mere coordination.
• Sufficient technical expertise to earn respect from talented engineers: capable of scrutinizing a system design, identifying poor trade-offs, and recognizing inconsistencies in the information provided.
• A background in building and operating platforms, APIs, or integration-heavy systems, preferably those utilized by developers outside of your organization.
• Comfort in operating with a high degree of autonomy and minimal process: you tackle ambiguity proactively instead of waiting for clarification.
• The discernment to determine when a change is significant enough to warrant involving Staff Engineers or initiating a design review, along with the credibility to uphold that standard.
• Nice to have:
• Experience with developer platforms, marketplaces, or ecosystem products where third parties rely on your outputs.
• Exposure to payments, fintech, or other complex infrastructure sectors, although the depth of engineering leadership is more crucial than the specific industry experience.
• Competitive share options
• Uncapped holiday, with a minimum of 25 days to be utilized
• Access to co-working spaces
• Opportunities for workations and company retreats
• High-quality equipment tailored for your role
• £500 contribution towards your home office setup
• Generous learning budget
• Private medical insurance
• A wide range of additional perks and benefits (*depending on location)
