Senior Engineering Manager – Security Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Build and expand a new centralized Security Engineering team, beginning with the Customer Identity team and scaling up with additional hires based on work demands.

• Define the operational framework, collaborate on the roadmap, and implement tracking systems for security engineering tasks across all product lines.

• Recruit, nurture, and retain a high-performing team of software engineers with a focus on security.

• Foster a team culture rooted in engineering excellence, practical security approaches, and strong interdepartmental collaboration.

• Lead the design and execution of security product features across ClickHouse Cloud, Postgres, Langfuse, and OSS.

• Drive comprehensive ownership of security engineering projects.

• Establish distinct roles and a dedicated tracking system for all security product features.

• Oversee interdepartmental dependencies among Core, Data Platform, Cloud Platform, and Product Security teams.

• Work closely with Product Management and Security teams to ensure engineering solutions are based on sound risk and threat assessments.

• Collaborate with GRC and Trust & Assurance to ensure that security engineering outputs meet compliance, customer enablement, and audit standards.

• Partner with engineering and product leadership to align on architectural direction, prioritization, and resource allocation.

• Act as the main point of accountability for security engineering commitments to the product strategy and roadmap.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in building and managing engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, and career development.

• Proven history of establishing new teams or functions — crafting operating models, cultivating culture, and creating accountability structures from the ground up.

• Ability to lead and influence cross-functional stakeholders, including senior engineering and product management leaders, without direct authority.

• Strong hands-on experience in security engineering or software engineering with a significant focus on security.

• Experience in delivering security product features within cloud or SaaS environments.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, and distributed systems.

• Understanding of how security features relate to product strategy, compliance obligations, and customer trust.

• Proven ability to manage intricate, cross-functional programs.

• Strong intuition for prioritizing and making risk-based decisions in dynamic environments.

• Experience in creating scalable systems and processes.
