Senior Engineering Manager, Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Offer strategic vision and technical guidance to lead a team of engineers in the design, delivery, and maintenance of a comprehensive suite of APIs and back-end services.

• Work in partnership with product management, software engineering, platform teams, and other cross-functional leaders to iteratively create, develop, and validate technology solutions that focus on outcomes.

• Provide mentorship, coaching, training, and support to your team and others, fostering their career and personal development.

• Propel the execution of functionally relevant and technically robust solutions that adhere to all quality and security standards.

• Inspire the team to reach ambitious objectives, offering regular feedback and promoting ongoing enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience managing cloud and platform engineering teams in a dynamic environment.

• Over 6 years of experience in developing high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions in one or more of the following: Azure, AWS, and GCP.

• Demonstrated success in delivering appropriate technical solutions that balance complexity, performance, and maintainability.

• Strong leadership abilities to energize and motivate a high-performing engineering team.

• A genuine passion, perspective, and empathy for assisting software engineering teams in overcoming obstacles to achieve their objectives.

• A well-rounded approach that integrates Platform Engineering principles with modern Infrastructure Operations.

• Proficient in architecting and designing resilient, scalable systems while encouraging engineers to think broadly and innovatively when developing solutions.

• Capable of mentoring cloud and platform engineers to uphold architectural vision and software quality.

• Familiarity with software engineering methodologies for the entire software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

• Experience in mentoring engineers at various levels and aiding in their professional growth.

• An outcome-driven mindset that utilizes metrics and data to analyze development productivity metrics (e.g., code churn, commit size, test coverage, etc.) to identify areas for continuous improvement.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, coupled with strong relationship-building, collaboration, and organizational capabilities.
