Senior Engineering Manager, Flink Control Plane

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the overall roadmap and execution for the Flink Control Plane.

• Spearhead the ongoing migration of the control plane to Confluent's latest platform foundations.

• Collaborate with engineering teams on vital aspects of product definition, architectural design, and delivery.

• Propel the evolution of the control plane to accommodate a 10x increase in compute pools.

• Oversee and mentor a diverse team.

• Partner with engineering leadership and key stakeholders throughout Confluent Cloud.

• Guide the team in upholding high code quality and extensive test coverage.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in software development, including at least 5 years in engineering management, specifically leading cloud-native infrastructure teams.

• Profound understanding of distributed systems orchestration (Kubernetes operators, controller patterns, declarative API servers).

• Highly preferred experience in scaling control planes for managed cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure, Elastic, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.).

• Demonstrated success in hiring while maintaining a high standard and effectively managing performance.

• A focus on Operational Excellence.

• Outstanding ability to influence peers and upper management through data-driven, collaborative approaches and clear written/verbal communication.
