Senior Engineering Manager, Data & Cloud Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the cloud and data infrastructure for the AI organization, including shared runtime services, CI/CD frameworks, and platform services utilized by AI teams.

• Create and develop a cohesive data access layer for agents and AI functionalities, enabling interaction through a unified interface rather than individual storage and retrieval systems in each product.

• Determine the optimal storage locations for shared AI data — such as agent memory, context stores, and shared service datasets — while collaborating with product teams that need to maintain specific storage patterns for compliance or customer requirements.

• Construct and manage data ingestion and transformation pipelines that facilitate AI workloads and analytics, including ETL and lakehouse-style approaches as necessary.

• Influence the technical implementation of the organization’s data strategy, particularly concerning scalability, operability, cost-efficiency, and long-term sustainability.

• Collaborate with the AI Quality & Governance team to ensure privacy-sensitive data management, PII-aware workflows, and secure access for observability, memory, and trace data.

• Offer platform patterns, reference architectures, and reusable services that assist product teams in transitioning towards shared foundations instead of developing isolated point solutions.

• Recruit, mentor, and develop the team over time — this function may evolve into distinct data-platform and cloud-platform divisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of software engineering experience, including significant experience in leading engineers as a manager or technical lead.

• Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, developer platforms, or internal platform engineering.

• Practical experience in building or managing shared data systems: ETL/ELT pipelines, internal data services, warehouse or lakehouse environments, or other multi-team data platforms.

• Experience in designing platform APIs or integration layers that simplify complex infrastructure or fragmented systems for other teams.

• Proven exposure to production AI systems, particularly where data architecture and infrastructure significantly impact quality, reliability, latency, or cost.

• Ability to operate in uncertain environments where the architecture is developing, and the best solution may involve a mix of shared services, integration layers, and selective platform consolidation.

• A strong inclination towards hands-on execution, systems thinking, and building scalable foundations that other teams can rely on.

• Familiarity with agent memory, retrieval systems, semantic search, or data architectures tailored for LLM-powered applications.
