Senior Engineering Manager, Cloud Enablement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead, nurture, and support a team of engineers focused on addressing fundamental distributed system challenges.

• Define a clear technical vision for the team while ensuring alignment with CGS and broader company objectives.

• Stay actively involved and technically engaged in projects.

• Drive the implementation of key Temporal Cloud functionalities, such as: High Availability namespaces and failover automation, migration tools for transitioning between self-hosted and cloud Temporal clusters, and namespace migration within Temporal Cloud to manage capacity and facilitate data movement.

• Foster a strong culture of operational excellence, guaranteeing that features are observable, safe to operate, and ready for production.

• Take ownership of execution and results: including planning, prioritization, delivery, and follow-through.

• Collaborate closely with Product, Infrastructure, Cloud, and OSS teams to provide integrated solutions.

• Mentor and develop engineers by offering technical guidance, support for career advancement, and actionable feedback.

• Lead incident response efforts, conduct postmortems, and implement reliability enhancements for the systems under the team's purview.


⛳️ Requirements

• Strong background as a senior or staff-level software engineer prior to transitioning into engineering management.

• Extensive experience in building and operating distributed systems with an emphasis on reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance.

• Ability to work hands-on within the codebase, particularly in complex, concurrency-intensive environments.

• Proven experience leading teams that deliver production-quality cloud services.

• Solid understanding of replication, failover, and migration concepts within distributed systems.

• Demonstrated ability to drive execution with a proactive approach, even in ambiguous or rapidly changing situations.

• Experience guiding engineers through challenging technical tasks and operational responsibilities.

• Clear and pragmatic communication skills applicable to both technical and non-technical audiences.
