This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +31 more states.
• Cultivating a nurturing team atmosphere, ensuring that diverse perspectives are acknowledged and team members are empowered to take leadership roles.
• Assisting team members through structured development methodologies.
• Mentoring engineers in both the principles and practices of software engineering and adaptable software architecture.
• Taking ownership of technical decisions and collaborating closely with the team to identify optimal solutions to complex challenges.
• Steering discussions regarding the long-term technical vision of the Wikimedia Enterprise team, while aligning with the movement's core principles.
• Serving as a strong advocate, leader, and collaborator in team initiatives including code reviews, ceremonies, and task distribution.
• Engaging in the hiring process with an emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Collaborating with colleagues on cross-team projects and disseminating organizational updates.
• Facilitating the technical strategy and roadmap development in conjunction with software engineers and technical product management.
• Overseeing budgetary and staffing considerations.
• Proficiency in B2B settings that demand high and unpredictable scalability.
• Proven track record of cultivating high-performing engineering teams tackling complex problems.
• Experience managing teams with stringent service level agreements (SLAs) in place.
• Background in supporting intricate web applications hosted on Amazon Web Services or similar cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with Kafka or comparable distributed event processing systems.
• Experience in working with applications developed in Node.js, Go, and PHP.
• Comfortable with configuration management and orchestration tools (ECS, Kubernetes) as well as contemporary observability infrastructure (monitoring, metrics, and logging).
• BS/MS/Ph.D in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
