Senior Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Oversee and expand multiple engineering teams and their leaders within a specific business unit or product domain.

• Foster technical excellence and promote a culture of continuous learning among teams.

• Engage in and facilitate discussions regarding significant technical decisions, delivery expectations, and resource allocation.

• Represent the development strategy at the strategic (VP) level, including planning, results, metrics, and capabilities.

• Propel the adoption of AI tools to enhance team efficiency and accelerate delivery timelines.

• Advocate for learning through AI-assisted development and automation methodologies.

• Mentor teams on best practices in software delivery, estimation, stakeholder communication, and ongoing improvement.

• Ensure transparency in goals, priorities, and resource distribution while upholding technical excellence and innovation.

• Cultivate a culture of trust, transparency, collaboration, and constructive feedback.

• Sustain high morale and motivation, particularly during challenging times.

• Balance the needs of the business, teams, and individuals through effective communication and decision-making.

• Acknowledge team accomplishments and assist teams in learning from obstacles or setbacks.

• Oversee staffing, including recruiting new team members who align with the company's values and culture.

• Evaluate and monitor team performance, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure equitable compensation processes.

• Promote the adoption of DevOps practices and contemporary engineering methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of practical experience in software development, primarily utilizing the Java stack.

• 3+ years of experience in managing one or more engineering teams (25+ individuals) in a modern software development setting.

• Strong grasp of contemporary software development processes, frameworks, and their practical implications.

• Familiarity with modern software engineering technologies and their application to real-world challenges.

• Understanding of AI tools, prompting techniques, and workflow automation within software engineering.

• Capability to evaluate AI outputs and implement them to enhance efficiency and quality.

• Knowledge of DevOps culture and best practices.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, blending empathy, business insight, and the ability to set expectations and provide constructive feedback.

• Open-mindedness, a willingness to learn, and the courage to make decisions that drive progress.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.
