This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +34 more states.
• Recruit, mentor, and supervise a team of over 10 software engineers and engineering managers across various agile squads, promoting an environment of continuous learning, inclusivity, and high performance.
• Direct the technical strategy for FuzeRx’s primary B2B and consumer-facing platforms, ensuring solutions are highly available and secure by utilizing our main tech stack (Ruby on Rails, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, PostgreSQL, AWS).
• Oversee the complete software development lifecycle (SDLC) for your area, guaranteeing the reliable delivery of features that enhance API-driven prescription fulfillment and pharmacy logistics.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management, Pharmacy Operations, Design, and QA to convert intricate healthcare compliance and patient care requirements into technical roadmaps and actionable sprints.
• Advocate for engineering best practices that comply with stringent industry regulations (e.g., HIPAA, SOC2), ensuring that patient data security, secure messaging, and privacy are integral to our codebase.
• Set and monitor key engineering metrics (e.g., DORA metrics, system uptime, bug resolution rates) to promote ongoing improvement in engineering efficiency and pharmacy system reliability.
• Act as a senior escalation point for significant system outages or security incidents, leading root-cause analyses and implementing preventative measures.
• Effectively manage departmental budgets, vendor relationships, and cloud infrastructure expenses to support sustainable growth.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• More than 8 years of progressive experience in software engineering, architecture, and distributed systems design.
• At least 3 years of direct management experience, including overseeing managers or leading multiple concurrent engineering teams.
• Prior experience in developing scalable B2B SaaS or consumer-facing web applications, with a strong grasp of complex logistical or transactional systems.
• Standard business hours; availability for on-call escalations as necessary.
• In-depth architectural knowledge and proven experience deploying systems utilizing AWS, PostgreSQL, Ruby on Rails, Python, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with collaboration and procurement tools (e.g., Slack, GSuite, Coupa, Jira).
• Proven capability to build high-trust relationships, manage conflicts, and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders (e.g., clinical and operational leaders).
• Demonstrated expertise in Agile/Scrum methodologies, CI/CD pipeline optimization, and relational database architecture.
