This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Develop Reactor Modification Tooling that integrates mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical/motor actuation according to specified inputs, requirements, and environmental conditions while adhering to budget and timeline constraints.
• Create fabrication drawings, followed by the construction and testing of the Reactor Modification Tooling you design to validate that performance requirements are achieved.
• Generate 3D models, access and clearance studies, drawings, specifications, and test plans to facilitate tooling development.
• Work in tandem with the Hardware Team, Analysis Teams, Field Deployment Teams, and Services Business to provide tooling designs that align with our Nuclear Quality and Safety standards.
• Conduct design reviews to present your work to engineering colleagues and leadership, gathering constructive feedback.
• Draft operational procedures for the tooling you create to assist the field deployment team in executing repairs.
• Provide emergent issue support to customers during Outage Season, delivering technical guidance and rapid design, build, and test solutions for complex challenges.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• At least 10 years of experience in mechanical design and testing, which includes proficiency in 2D drawings and 3D modeling.
• 5 years of experience in the nuclear industry.
• Strong mechanical skills with a comprehensive understanding of the entire design evolution process from concept to delivery.
• Familiarity with design to cost principles and design for manufacturability.
• Experience with various fabrication techniques, including conventional machining, welding, and EDM.
• Capacity to comprehend and convey technical information to diverse stakeholders: engineers, project managers, product managers, as well as business and engineering leadership.
• Strong project planning, scheduling, and execution abilities as an engineer or engineering team leader.
• Proven capability to lead multi-disciplinary teams on pioneering projects.
• Nuclear industry experience and a solid understanding of nuclear reactor components are highly desirable.
