Furnace Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Conduct furnace audits and campaign life evaluations with necessary reporting.

• Offer technical assistance and project management for various projects.

• Deliver operational and maintenance support for the relevant systems.

• Accountable for complex and substantial projects utilizing extensive engineering expertise.

• Execute and document furnace audits and campaign life evaluations.

• Ensure follow-up with essential hot repair documentation and oversee repairs.

• Define and implement exceptional maintenance budgets.

• Scope, estimate, design, select, inspect, and supervise the construction of furnace refractories.

• Create detailed and precise scopes of work for engineering initiatives.

• Assist engineers during the drafting of designs.

• Collaborate with Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, and Process Control engineering as needed.

• Provide constructive feedback to the Global Furnace Team for design enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Ceramic Engineering is preferred.

• Consideration will be given to candidates with Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent knowledge.

• Over 5 years of experience in glass furnace and refractory design, construction, audits, and hot repairs.

• Proficient understanding of refractory expansion and interaction with binding steel.

• Familiarity with refractory selections and suppliers in design and hot repair processes.

• Knowledge of industrial manufacturing systems, buildings, infrastructure, and process-related systems.

• Strong awareness of safety and PPE requirements.

• Ability to operate effectively in multinational environments.

• Proficient in MS Office applications.

• Knowledge of AutoCAD.

• Familiarity with SAP.

• English proficiency: Oral – Advanced, Written/Reading – Advanced.
