Mechanical Engineering Director – Data Centers

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Lead and manage the U.S. Data Center Mechanical Engineering team.

• Facilitate project delivery for various hyperscale data center initiatives.

• Set technical standards, best practices, and quality benchmarks for mechanical design.

• Act as a senior technical resource for project teams on intricate hyperscale data center projects.

• Oversee mechanical system design, including HVAC systems and hydronic piping systems.

• Ensure compliance with client standards and operational performance criteria.

• Supervise the coordination of mechanical engineering tasks with other disciplines.

• Assist in resource planning, staffing strategies, and workload distribution within the mechanical team.

• Mentor and nurture the development of engineers within the department.

• Verify that mechanical designs adhere to relevant industry codes, standards, and best practices.

• Remain updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and evolving regulations.

• Provide technical guidance and support throughout construction phases.

• Represent mechanical engineering in key client meetings as a senior technical representative.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• A minimum of twelve (12) years of relevant experience in mechanical design and/or engineering, particularly focused on data center infrastructure.

• At least four years of leadership experience.

• A Professional Engineer License (P.E.) is mandatory.

• Proven experience with hyperscale or colocation clients.

• Experience in managing large, multi-disciplinary design teams.

• Familiarity with Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build delivery methods.
