Senior Engineer – Core Network

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and maintain the core IP routing infrastructure along with associated network services.

• Assess, conduct laboratory tests, and validate new technologies, platforms, and service offerings to facilitate network growth and performance goals.

• Create and deploy enhancements for network security and initiatives for infrastructure hardening.

• Formulate technical requirements and engineering standards for commercial products and network services.

• Develop and sustain best practices, design standards, and documentation for both current and forthcoming network architectures.

• Recognize and act on opportunities to enhance network reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.

• Deliver Tier IV support for intricate network and customer-impacting issues, acting as a technical escalation resource throughout the organization.

• Collaborate with Network Operations, Field Operations, Product, Sales Engineering, and Customer Support teams to diagnose and resolve service-related issues.

• Examine recurring network challenges and devise long-term solutions that bolster network stability and enhance customer experience.

• Investigate, test, and execute operating system upgrades, patches, and improvements to infrastructure.

• Assist in strategic initiatives concerning IPv6 deployment, routing optimization, network automation, and service innovation.

• Engage in industry events, vendor demonstrations, and technical training to stay updated on emerging technologies and industry developments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in network engineering, core network operations, or similar telecommunications engineering roles.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline is preferred; relevant experience will also be considered.

• CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification or equivalent practical experience in supporting enterprise or service provider networks.

• Extensive knowledge of IP routing, carrier-grade networking, and ISP network operations.

• Proven experience in designing, implementing, and supporting IPv6 network environments.

• Familiarity with virtualization technologies and virtualized network infrastructure.

• Strong proficiency in Linux operating systems and administration.

• Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL database structures and environments.

• In-depth understanding of routing protocols, network architecture, security principles, and optimization of network performance.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
