Senior Engineer – AI Workflows

📋 Description

• As a Senior Engineer in the Internal AI Accelerator Squad, you will play a pivotal role in Xero’s evolution into an AI-centric organization.

• You will function as a forward-deployed engineer, collaborating with various internal business teams to co-create and implement agentic AI workflows that eliminate manual tasks and fundamentally transform our operational processes.

• You will oversee the delivery of critical AI agents from the discovery phase to production, serving as both a technical partner and an advocate.

• By establishing the patterns, guardrails, and tools for intelligent automation, you will develop the framework that empowers the rest of Xero to leverage AI safely and effectively.

• You will be part of a dedicated, high-performing squad committed to enhancing the adoption of agentic AI and intelligent automation throughout the global business.

⛳️ Requirements

• You have extensive experience in creating and managing applications or automations in production environments, particularly with APIs and cloud infrastructure.

• Your experience includes hands-on implementation of AI-driven solutions such as agents, copilots, or RAG systems utilizing LLMs like Claude or Gemini.

• You are proficient in programming languages such as Python or TypeScript and are comfortable working with SDKs and webhooks.

• A systems-thinking mindset is integral to your approach, enabling you to design agents with a focus on security, auditability, and controlled impact.

• You have a proven history of collaborating with non-technical stakeholders to convert business challenges into technical solution designs.

• You possess a natural coaching ability and enjoy enhancing the AI understanding of your colleagues through pairing, workshops, and effective communication.
