Senior Energy Storage Project Manager – Preconstruction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the daily management, coordination, and successful execution of energy storage projects from the notice of award through to project mobilization, as part of the Energy Storage Preconstruction Group.

• Facilitate project meetings, conduct cost analyses, and update project timelines accordingly.

• Manage contract exhibits during execution and negotiate strategic buyouts as necessary to uphold the budget.

• Maintain a cost control ledger and job cost statements for financial oversight.

• Prepare billing statements and expedite payment processes.

• Establish and manage all components of the CMiC system.

• Develop bid packages, solicit offers, and assess bids for project requirements.

• Draft project procedures for operational guidance.

• Review project plans to ensure completeness and accuracy.

• Supervise and mentor Preconstruction Project Engineers and administrative staff.

• Ensure that procurement activities are in alignment with LNTP scope, budget, and schedules.

• Collaborate with business development, engineering, accounting, construction, and legal teams to define contract scopes of work.

• Work closely with Engineering and Procurement to grasp design constraints and material lead times, ensuring timely release of long lead procurement items during the LNTP phase.

• Define and establish LNTPs for project clarity.

• Investigate and comprehend project-specific design requirements, including internal conditions, owner/contract stipulations, and permit obligations.

• Act as a liaison with the Engineering Manager to monitor changes affecting project timelines and budgets, and communicate these changes to the Project Executive.

• Represent SOLV Energy in meetings with owners.

• Assist in the reconciliation of estimates during each design iteration.

• Ensure timely and precise reporting to the Project Team and management, particularly focusing on cost forecasting and estimated completion costs.

• Proactively manage project risks by assessing the likelihood and impact of identified risks and crafting mitigation strategies with the project team operations management.

• Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with Owners, Engineers, Vendors, and Subcontractors, while developing strategies to foster a robust partnership with the Owner, ensuring timely notifications regarding impacts and safeguarding rights under the EPC.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Energy Storage Construction.

• A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture, or equivalent experience.

• A comprehensive understanding of plans and specifications.

• Field experience of 5-8 years in roles such as Project Engineer or Assistant Superintendent.

• Demonstrated leadership skills – capable of uniting team members from various backgrounds in a remote environment into a cohesive, high-performing project team.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities along with excellent organizational skills.

• Proficient computer skills, particularly with the MS Office suite and other industry-standard tools like Bluebeam Revu.

• Basic knowledge of contract law and project accounting principles.

• Exceptional organizational and communication skills; must possess robust interpersonal skills.

• Detail-oriented and a motivated self-starter.

• Willingness to travel (approximately 25%).

• Over 5 years of construction experience.

• At least 2 years of experience in scheduling and estimating.

• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship, either now or in the future.
