Senior Embedded Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Develop, maintain, and enhance the Yocto-based embedded Linux system for the PLOBC.

• Take ownership of the embedded software architecture.

• Collaborate closely with the FPGA engineer to create and refine PS ↔ PL interfaces.

• Lead board bring-up initiatives and actively troubleshoot hardware/software interface issues.

• Design and implement the embedded testing strategy.

• Promote standards alignment (CCSDS, ECSS) within the embedded domain.

• Manage the low-level application components and work in conjunction with the application software team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in building and maintaining Yocto-based embedded Linux systems.

• In-depth understanding of the Linux kernel, driver development/porting, HAL, boot processes, device trees, and BSP development.

• Solid knowledge of hardware communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, and similar) and familiarity with FPGA-related protocols (AXI, Avalon, Wishbone).

• Hands-on experience with board bring-up and hardware debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG).

• Capability to independently read and interpret hardware schematics and datasheets.

• Strong proficiency in C and C++; experience with Python for tooling, scripting, and test automation.

• Understanding of RTOS concepts and bare-metal programming.

• Experience in designing and implementing testing frameworks for embedded systems, including HIL or system-level testing.

• Proven ability to make informed technical decisions in the face of incomplete or evolving requirements.

• Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience.
