Senior Electrical Substation Design Project Engineering Manager 2 HV/EHV

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee and coordinate all technical elements of AC power substation projects.

• Serve as the primary contact for all technical inquiries among customers, vendors, project managers, and engineering teams.

• Create and manage essential design deliverables.

• Evaluate and contribute to proposal submissions.

• Draft specifications for high-voltage equipment and contractor scopes of work.

• Ensure all engineering outputs align with customer CTQs (Critical to Quality) and are delivered punctually and within budget.

• Assist in commissioning and facilitate interactions between customers and project stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.

• At least 12 years of experience in industrial or utility High Voltage (+138kV) substation design, or a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience.

• Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% (including international trips).

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the U.S. in good standing, with potential for licensure in other states.

• Familiarity with EHV substation design standards.

• Proven skills in Transmission & Distribution substation engineering, Primary (outdoor) substation design, calculations, and electrical protection, as well as Industrial power system design (12.5 kV and above).

• Competent in key design calculations, including: Battery sizing, DC system design and AC auxiliary power, Power transformer and circuit breaker selection, Conductor sizing and application, Grounding, lightning protection, and insulation coordination.

• Knowledgeable in IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards; capable of developing comprehensive engineering packages without detailed customer specifications.

• Experience in field-testing and commissioning, with a strong emphasis on safety.

• Excellent troubleshooting abilities—both electrical and mechanical.

• Strong communication skills in customer-facing situations and a solid commercial awareness.
