This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Deliver business support, technical direction, and leadership to Projects and Services throughout Australia.
• Address electrical safety and operational issues during the installation, testing, and maintenance of Wind Turbine Generators and associated substations.
• Act as the business representative in national electrical contracting projects.
• Create compliance plans for electrical contracting regulations in each state of Australia.
• Ensure that electrical licenses for GE Renewable Energy and contracted personnel are up-to-date and compliant.
• Supervise High Voltage safety protocols and operations at service and project locations.
• Design and execute Verification of Competency programs for HV switching.
• Develop and establish electrical safety and operational switching protocols at wind farm sites.
• Create and sustain electrical training initiatives, including LOTO support.
• Assist EHS audit programs that encompass safety, training, operations, and electrical equipment maintenance.
• Evaluate contractor licenses and compliance with state regulations.
• Support isolation schedules, lock boxes, HV permitting, and HV operations.
• Establish electrical testing programs for infrastructure in collaboration with Engineering.
• Provide advice to operations teams regarding the maintenance and operation of electrical infrastructure.
• Review scopes of electrical maintenance contractors and assess their performance.
• Implement and assess engineering-designed testing and commissioning programs.
• Offer technical guidance, audits, compliance, commissioning, and installation support for HV products and electrical systems.
• Valid Australian electrical License – A grade.
• Experienced High Voltage operator with up-to-date training.
• Experience in HV and LV operations.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
• Background in permit recipient and work control.
• Experience in developing procedures.
• Familiarity with network operating authorities and their protocols, including potential training requirements.
• Understanding of best practices in installation and commissioning.
• Willingness to train and mentor others as well as manage a small team.
• Knowledge of contracting and nominee requirements, with the option to hold that position.
• Background in substation commissioning, operations, and maintenance is desirable.
• Relevant experience in the power generation and transmission sector.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to make informed decisions under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Safety-oriented mindset with a thorough understanding of industry safety standards and protocols.
• Ability to travel and work on-site at various project and operational locations as necessary.
• Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid Australian driver's license.
• Previous experience with GE WTG is preferred.
• Availability to monitor, read, and respond to communications outside of regular working hours across time zones.
• No relocation assistance provided.
