This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Develop and deliver electrical cost estimates along with quantity take-offs.
• Oversee the commercial aspects of intricate Electrical Building Services and Process Utility installations.
• Provide guidance to clients regarding procurement strategies.
• Manage vendor prequalification processes and evaluate proposals, bids, change orders, and bid leveling documents.
• Present final recommendations to clients and participate in or lead bid interviews.
• Oversee the contractor appointment process.
• Conduct independent evaluations of contractor and subcontractor tenders and prepare commercial recommendations.
• Review, validate, and negotiate variations, change orders, and compensation events.
• Deliver side-by-side cost comparisons.
• Assess change orders and verify quantities, rates, and scopes against industry standards and contractual documents.
• Possess an understanding of Class 2 estimates and execute Class 3 estimates when necessary.
• Manage, assess, and present complex change-order estimates.
• Benchmark performance based on successful commissions.
• Assist with change management in a fast-paced design and construction setting.
• Utilize Bid Analysis Sheets, Change Control Forms, cost estimating software, and take-off tools.
• Offer commercial management support for specialized electrical systems.
• Comply with SOX control responsibilities where applicable.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in a Quantity Surveying and/or estimating capacity within the construction sector.
• In-depth knowledge of construction contracts.
• RICS accreditation or progress towards it is advantageous.
• Experience in supporting cost management for medium to large construction projects.
• Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of technical aspects of the construction industry, including procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with industrial technology or semiconductor projects is a bonus.
• Data center experience is an advantage.
• Experience with projects valued at over $500 million; over $2 billion preferred.
• Familiarity with medium/low voltage, campus power distribution, and life safety systems.
• Proficient in MS Suite, Bluebeam, digital cost management tools, and/or estimating software.
• BIM-based quantity extraction is a plus.
• Knowledge of semiconductor facility infrastructure and construction methodologies is advantageous.
• Familiarity with NECA and RS Means is beneficial.
• RICS certification is a plus.
