This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.
• Design electrical power distribution systems for low and medium voltage, including switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers, distribution panels, and transformers.
• Supervise the design of conduit, duct bank, and cable tray systems.
• Coordinate the design of lighting systems.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines.
• Prepare specifications for construction related to electrical equipment and systems.
• Provide engineering services during the construction phase, which includes reviewing submittals and responding to RFIs.
• Conduct studies on short-circuit, protective-device coordination, and arc-flash.
• Plan and monitor the electrical scope, schedule, and budget at the project level.
• Engage in power-system modeling and the development of conceptual designs.
• Select and arrange equipment layouts.
• Create both 2D and 3D contract drawings.
• Prepare bid packages and carry out field investigations.
• Execute electrical and instrumentation & controls design while also supporting construction efforts both in the office and onsite.
• Mentor junior and mid-level electrical and instrumentation & controls staff.
• Maintain client interactions.
• Manage projects related to electrical and instrumentation & controls.
• Engage in new business development initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with local and national teams.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Must have obtained or be pursuing a professional license.
• Typically certified in Brown and Caldwell's Subject Matter Specialist Framework.
• Proficient in the design of electrical power distribution systems.
• Expertise in the design of motor control systems.
• Skilled in designing conduit, duct bank, and cable tray systems.
• Experience in coordinating with civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines.
• Preferred: 10–15+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering.
• Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
• Familiarity with government, municipal, and/or industrial water and wastewater projects.
• Ability to collaborate with designers using Revit/BIM and AutoCAD P&ID.
• Experience in industrial medium- and low-voltage power systems, service entrance, feeder and branch circuits, lighting, emergency power, and power generation/distribution equipment.
• Knowledge in conducting power systems studies.
• Understanding of the National Electrical Code.
• Familiarity with electrical safety systems and NFPA 70E.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Capability to multitask, work independently, learn, and adhere to tight deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate with technical teams for design coordination.
• Supervisory and mentoring experience with electrical staff.
• Proficient with SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower software.
