This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and assess engineering design change packages aimed at installing, replacing, or upgrading existing plant equipment to guarantee long-term reliability.
• Create and evaluate comprehensive engineering calculations to support design change packages, which encompass AC and DC power studies, short circuit analysis, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, and protective relay settings.
• Draft and review specifications for equipment procurement.
• Engage in the bid review and evaluation process for potential equipment suppliers, which includes addressing vendor requests for additional information, formulating responses to vendor inquiries, and maintaining a tracking system for questions and responses.
• Prepare and review scoping documents for conceptual designs, which include constructability assessments.
• Collaborate with project team members from various engineering and design disciplines (Mechanical, Structural, Civil, I&C).
• Liaise with the client to support the project, including implementing personnel.
• Work with vendors to conduct document reviews and provide written feedback.
• Participate in client meetings and site field walkdowns to verify scope and ensure client satisfaction.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field design verification.
• Assist with on-site installation activities during project execution.
• Support the S&L project manager to ensure that projects are completed to satisfaction, on schedule, and within budget.
• Oversee the overall technical, financial, and administrative performance of the engineering scope by: initiating and communicating the scope of work to project team members, defining deliverables (i.e., calculations, specifications, drawings, design changes, etc.), reviewing status and monitoring the progress of team members to adhere to project scope and budget while keeping the client informed, conducting routine status meetings, submitting progress reports, tracking and resolving outstanding items and emergent project issues, and coordinating the completion of project deliverables.
• A degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• At least 5 years of experience in designing electrical engineering systems within a project team setting for industrial applications, particularly focusing on existing nuclear power plants.
• Proficiency in the selection of equipment and materials, as well as in the preparation and assembly of engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications.
• Experience with electrical system design, including low and medium voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors, relays, etc.).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey information to project team members and clients.
