This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• The Electrical Engineer Manager is tasked with the comprehensive execution of all brownfield projects and small to medium greenfield projects, with responsibility for engineering delivery, cost management, schedule compliance, and risk assessment.
• This position offers dedicated leadership for high-risk, execution-intensive work, ensuring reliable delivery while safeguarding profit margins. The Engineering Manager serves as the primary execution owner, manager of engineering resources, and overseer of subcontractor quality. This person must be well-versed in all projects undertaken by their team to effectively support their engineers and address project challenges. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks across engineering, project management, procurement, and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be adept at fulfilling the needs of the company and clients while fostering individual success and motivating employees to advance their careers within the organization.
• **Essential Job Duties:**
• 1. Manage engineering resources to ensure full utilization on both internal and client projects.
• 2. Recruit and conduct interviews for potential engineering candidates when additional resources are necessary.
• 3. Supervise the training and mentoring of engineering personnel.
• 4. Conduct annual performance evaluations for engineering staff and recommend salary increases or promotions as appropriate.
• 5. Establish and uphold department standards, ensuring compliance from all employees for all projects.
• 6. Oversee daily engineering functions throughout design, implementation, commissioning, and project closure, ensuring alignment with project schedules, scopes, and budget targets.
• 7. Collaborate with the executive team to define department objectives and individual development goals for engineering personnel.
• 8. Partner with clients and other KPI employees to design effective material handling systems and equipment tailored to the client’s requirements.
• 9. Lead design reviews and participate in client meetings to support project engineers.
• 10. Assist with vendor factory acceptance testing or first article inspections.
• 11. Supervise Electrical and controls subcontractors.
• Required Qualifications:
• 1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or a related discipline). Equivalent experience may be taken into account.
• 2. Over 8 years of experience in Controls and/or Electrical Engineering.
• 3. At least 3 years of experience leading engineering teams or managing project execution.
• 4. Demonstrated experience in delivering brownfield automation or material handling projects.
• 5. Strong understanding of:
• - PLC-based control systems, safety PLCs, and machine automation (Rockwell preferred; Siemens/others are advantageous).
• - Industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Profinet, etc.).
• - AutoCAD Electrical for designing electrical schematics, panel layouts, and system diagrams.
• - Electrical system design and implementation.
• - Challenges in commissioning and site execution.
• 6. Previous experience in defining and working with software/PLC interfaces.
• 7. Familiarity with SCADA/HMI platforms (Ignition, FactoryTalk View preferred).
• 8. Ability to efficiently diagnose and resolve complex electrical and controls problems.
• 9. Capability to lead technical discussions with clients and cross-functional teams.
• 10. Experience in managing engineering costs, EACs, forecasts, and schedules.
• 11. Exceptional organizational skills with a strong emphasis on effective oral and written communication.
• 12. Proficient in managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
• 13. Ability to oversee a diverse engineering staff, both in-office and remote, and comfortable mentoring and guiding engineers.
