This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance electrical design standards, specifications, and approval criteria throughout the portfolio.
• Act as the main technical reviewer and approver for electrical deliverables at all phase gates (DD, 30/60/90/IFC).
• Specify technical requirements for essential electrical equipment such as UPS, generators, switchgear, and distribution systems.
• Manage the electrical Basis of Design (BoD) and ensure consistency across all ongoing projects.
• Review and endorse consultant-generated packages to guarantee adherence to internal standards and relevant codes (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, local codes).
• Supervise and validate approaches and outcomes of arc flash, short circuit, and coordination studies.
• Identify technical risks associated with availability, redundancy strategy, protection coordination, and constructability; implement mitigation plans.
• Ensure cross-discipline integration (mechanical, controls, structural) is thoroughly reviewed during the design phase.
• Assist in the selection and performance management of electrical consultants, Engineers of Record (EORs), and key vendors.
• Facilitate technical alignment workshops to verify that external partners fulfill Riot’s requirements.
• Evaluate submittals and shop drawings; aid in resolving design conflicts during construction.
• Contribute to commissioning acceptance criteria inputs and provide review support for electrical systems.
• Promote the capture of lessons learned and updates of standards across the portfolio.
• Prepare executive-ready summaries of significant technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs as necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Professional Engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred.
• A minimum of 7 years of electrical engineering experience; experience in mission-critical/data centers is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in medium/low voltage distribution, redundancy strategies, and protection coordination.
• Experience in overseeing consultants and providing technical approvals for large capital programs.
• Familiarity with power analysis software tools (ETAP or SKM experience is preferred).
• Strong capabilities in technical writing, documentation, and collaborative communication.
• Willingness to travel as required for site evaluations and commissioning activities.
• Competitive Salary: $180,000-$200,000 (commensurate with experience) + bonus + sign-on equity grant.
