Senior EHR Integration Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and develop robust, bidirectional integrations with leading EHR systems.

• Implement and oversee HL7v2 interfaces along with FHIR R4 / US Core integrations.

• Construct and manage integration pipelines utilizing InterSystems IRIS.

• Manage C-CDA documents, X12 transactions, and the connectivity infrastructure.

• Navigate vendor programs for EHRs from start to finish.

• Take ownership of the integration estate's reliability.

• Ensure precision, patient-matching integrity, and proper handling of de-identification/PHI across all data flows.

• Assist in customer and partner due diligence and security assessments.

• Coordinate multiple integration teams that operate in parallel and are demand-driven.

• Plan capacity and schedule go-live events.

• Establish integration standards and provide mentorship to engineers.

• Work collaboratively with Backend, AI, Clinical, and Implementation teams.

• Write clean, maintainable code that is test-driven.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in software and integration engineering.

• Proven, deep expertise in developing HL7v2 and FHIR integrations within production healthcare settings.

• Experience in managing multiple engineers or concurrent workstreams across various customers.

• Must reside in the USA and have authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

• Willingness to travel within the USA as required.

• Hands-on experience with the interface/API surface of at least one major EHR.

• Production experience with InterSystems IRIS or a similar platform.

• Strong programming capabilities in Python, along with familiarity in JavaScript/TypeScript or Java/Groovy.

• Comprehensive understanding of healthcare data, clinical terminologies, patient matching, and EHR data models.

• Working knowledge of integration connectivity and security protocols.

• Extensive experience in a highly compliant environment adhering to HIPAA/HITECH, SOC 2, and HITRUST regulations.

• Reliability-oriented mindset: observability, idempotency, retries, reconciliation, and graceful degradation.

• Exceptional communication skills — clear, organized, and concise.
