This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Creates FX animation, procedural simulations, dynamic simulations, as well as particle and fluid systems for visual effects in feature films.

• Takes charge of lighting, rendering, and moderate-level compositing of intricate shots under the guidance of supervisors.

• Designs and develops FX animation, procedural simulations, dynamic simulations, and particle and fluid systems.

• Lights complex or multiple creatures, including those with hair or fur, and various elements.

• Responsible for configuring and managing extensive particle effects and large crowd scenes.

• Possesses exceptional pipeline scripting skills.

• Strong compositing abilities, capable of handling blue-screen extractions, with a working knowledge of Nuke.

• Able to write plug-ins, debug simulations, and proficiently create setup and surface shaders.

• Skilled in writing or modifying procedural surface shaders and volumetric shaders.

• Competently animates moderate objects.

• Quickly learns new techniques and effectively troubleshoots various issues.

• Establishes high standards for all Technical Directors by consistently improving speed, quality of work, and adaptability.


⛳️ Requirements

• 3-5+ years of production experience or feature film experience in effects simulation work.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or computer graphics.

• A demo reel is required.

• Ability to work with competence, energy, and enthusiasm in a team setting with minimal supervision to complete shots.

• Exhibits strong listening and communication skills, capable of accepting direction and constructive criticism.

• Excellent presentation and communication skills during dailies and shot reviews, clearly outlining accomplishments and next steps for the shot.

• Engages in the creative process without ego and embraces final decisions with a positive and supportive demeanor.

• Demonstrates a keen aesthetic sense, anticipating potential challenges and utilizing knowledge of tools to achieve the desired outcome.

• Shows exceptional problem-solving capabilities and proactively offers ideas and suggestions.

• Effectively prioritizes tasks and manages time efficiently.

• Advanced simulation experience with Houdini, Maya, 3DS Max, or similar software, along with the ability to write expressions.

• Proficient in C++.

• Preferred: Experience with Linux and scripting in Python, as well as knowledge of MEL.
