This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
β’ Act as Ratehub's leading expert in mortgages and real estate.
β’ Create content that delivers insightful analysis and reflects current market dynamics, rate fluctuations, and consumer requirements β going beyond just evergreen education.
β’ Enhance Ratehub's credibility in the mortgage sector by producing high-quality, accurate, and timely original content across various formats, including media contributions, landing pages, blog posts, newsletters, videos, and social media.
β’ Assist the Communications team by providing expert commentary, relevant data points, and timely insights for media outreach.
β’ Regularly collaborate with Ratehub's mortgage team to stay informed about rate trends, lender strategies, and market changes, translating these insights into prompt content updates.
β’ Continuously maintain and update existing content, including blogs, FAQs, and landing pages, utilizing internal resources, French translators, and freelancers as needed.
β’ Apply SEO and GEO best practices to all content, with a particular emphasis on landing pages and high-traffic areas.
β’ Define, document, and uphold Ratehub's editorial voice and style guidelines across all formats, channels, and contributors.
β’ Establish and maintain editorial policies, workflows, and governance frameworks that can be scaled across staff writers, freelancers, and cross-functional contributors.
β’ Oversee and manage the editorial and social media calendar, balancing timely rate and market coverage with long-term content strategies while ensuring all published content adheres to accuracy, compliance, and regulatory standards relevant to Canadian financial products.
β’ Review, edit, and approve submissions from writers, freelancers, and subject matter experts to ensure a consistently high editorial standard.
β’ Develop and maintain extensive knowledge in Canadian personal finance β including mortgage rates, insurance, credit cards, banking, and investing β to provide credible editorial oversight.
β’ Oversee content QA processes, including fact-checking, link auditing, structural reviews, and scheduled content refreshes.
β’ Leverage performance data, such as organic traffic, keyword rankings, GEO metrics, engagement, and conversion signals, to guide editorial priorities and identify content gaps.
β’ Brief, onboard, and supervise freelance contributors, defining the scope, ensuring quality, and providing feedback.
β’ Collaborate with product, design, marketing, and data teams to ensure content accurately reflects live product and rate information.
β’ Lead the production of sponsored content, serving as the main liaison between the external partnership team and the content team.
β’ 6β10 years of editorial experience.
β’ Established expertise in personal finance content, with a strong preference for candidates focused on mortgages or real estate.
β’ Experience in a digital-first media environment, fintech, financial services, or a high-volume content operation.
β’ Post-secondary education in journalism, communications, English, or a related field β or equivalent professional experience.
β’ Outstanding writing, editing, and storytelling abilities, with the capacity to present complex financial topics clearly and engagingly for a Canadian audience.
β’ Strong familiarity with Canadian mortgage products, rate structures, lending regulations, and the broader real estate landscape is highly preferred.
β’ Proven track record of managing a high volume of content across multiple formats simultaneously β including articles, landing pages, newsletters, social media, and video scripts.
β’ Strong command of Canadian AP or CP style, with experience in developing and maintaining in-house style guides.
β’ Solid understanding of SEO best practices, including keyword research, on-page optimization, internal linking, and content structuring for search.
β’ Familiarity with GEO (generative engine optimization) and the impact of AI-powered search on content strategy.
β’ Proficient in using tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Semrush, PEEC, or similar platforms to inform editorial choices.
β’ Ability to analyze content performance data and convert it into actionable editorial priorities.
β’ Experience mentoring content writers/strategists, with a proven history of enhancing the quality of a team's output.
β’ Skilled in briefing and managing freelance contributors, including providing clear, constructive editorial feedback.
β’ Comfortable working cross-functionally with marketing, product, and analytics teams.
β’ Strong project management skills β able to manage competing deadlines, shifting priorities, and multiple stakeholders effectively.
β’ Confident communicator with experience on-camera and on-mic; comfortable participating in video content and social media videos.
β’ Established relationships within Canadian financial media or journalism networks are an asset.
