This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate with Program Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Component Engineering to develop and finalize printed wiring board (PWB/PCB) designs.
• Utilize Cadence Capture CIS and Allegro for schematic capture and PCB layout, focusing on constraints management, netlisting, debugging, annotation, and layout post-processing.
• Transform legacy schematic data from PDFs into Capture CIS native design files and legacy layout data from Gerber or PDF formats into Allegro native design files.
• Create and validate schematic symbols, PCB footprints, custom padstacks, board stack-ups, and component library data.
• Netlist new schematics into PCB layouts and ensure accuracy against legacy design data.
• Design intricate circuit card layouts that incorporate mixed-signal, analog, digital, high-speed, RF, linear and switching power supplies, as well as high-voltage and high-current circuitry.
• Support various communications interfaces and buses, including Ethernet, PCI, VPX, DDR, RS-485, SATA, USB, and I2C.
• Implement IPC, J-STD, Mil-Spec, ASME, ESD, UL, and RoHS standards throughout the PCB/PWB design process.
• Leverage knowledge of bare-board fabrication, circuit card assembly processes, materials, manufacturing tolerances, and component characteristics.
• Develop PCB stack-ups and conduct impedance and transmission-line modeling.
• Carry out design rule checks, troubleshoot design errors and conflicts, and generate comprehensive design reports.
• Import, export, and maintain circuit card assembly documentation and design data using tools such as Gerber, ODB++, CAM350, Valor, Polar Si9000, and Zplanner.
• Facilitate engineering workflows through Altium, Xpedition, AutoCAD, eDrawings, SolidWorks, Windchill, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and MS Teams.
• Host screen-share design reviews, engage in formal PCB layout reviews, complete design checklists, and apply technical direction from layout leads.
• Manage simultaneous and expedited design requests, provide scheduling insights and status updates, and fulfill necessary design releases.
• Upload design files to repositories and supply design data and release packages to support program timelines.
• Innovate technical solutions within constraints of cost, schedule, and technology while identifying opportunities for process optimization and continuous improvement.
• U.S. Citizenship is mandated by Federal Law.
• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant specialized field along with a minimum of 8 years of pertinent experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be taken into account.
• In-depth knowledge and practical experience with Cadence Capture CIS and Cadence Allegro for E-CAD, schematic capture, and PWB design.
• Comprehensive understanding of IPC, J-STD, Mil-Spec, ASME, ESD, UL, and RoHS standards.
• Familiarity with bare-board fabrication and circuit card assembly manufacturing processes, materials, and tolerances.
• Strong grasp of the physical and electrical characteristics of electronic components.
• Experience in designing layouts that encompass mixed-signal, analog, digital, high-speed, RF, power supply, high-voltage, and high-current circuits.
• Knowledge of communication interfaces and buses such as Ethernet, PCI, VPX, DDR, RS-485, SATA, USB, and I2C.
• Proficient in schematic capture, PCB layout, constraints management, netlisting/debugging, annotation, post-processing, component library development, footprint and padstack design, stack-up design, design rule checking, and technical design reporting.
• Experience in impedance and transmission-line modeling.
• Proficient in converting legacy schematic and PCB layout data from PDF and Gerber formats into native Cadence Capture CIS and Allegro designs.
• Proficient with tools including Altium, Xpedition, Gerber, ODB++, CAM350, Valor, Polar Si9000, Zplanner, AutoCAD, eDrawings, SolidWorks, and Windchill.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, and Teams, and experience with Adobe tools.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot PCB design issues, develop technical solutions, manage multiple design tasks, and provide scheduling inputs.
• Capability to operate within established cost, schedule, and technology constraints and support formal technical and layout design reviews.
• Selected candidates must successfully pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks.
